"SPREAD LOVE AND CARE" - Community Based Programme
“SPREAD LOVE AND CARE”
COMMUNITY BASED
PROGRAMME
We
the first-year teacher educators of BNV College of Teacher Education got an
opportunity to visit an old age home for our community-based activity which
comes under our B. Ed curriculum. The main objective of our community-based
programme is to sensitize the students to the living conditions of the people
who are around us and to realise the truth of the society.
Students
with respected teachers conducted a planning session for choosing the best
place to visit. As a result of this, we decided to visit an old age home near
to our college named ‘KRIPATHEERAM’ situated 6.5 km far from our college. Kripatheeram
(a home for homeless) is a charity organization run by Holy Family Congregation
established on January 18th, 2012. At present 32 residents are
living in this home and the caretakers are providing free service for taking
care of them. The community-based programme ‘SPREAD LOVE AND CARE’ happened on
23rd of January 2023.

The programme session begins with a prayer by Ms. Aiswarya after that a welcome speech was delivered by our college chairperson Ms. Rejeena. We reached Kripatheeram at 10 am and spend our time with the inmates for 2 hours. Various programmes were conducted by the students like dance, music, and games to make the residents in old age home happier and it made the day more colourful.
Students
got opportunity to interact with the inmates residing there. While interacting
with the caretakers, they got to know the entire details of the old age home.
The student teachers were able to collect a reasonable amount for the
improvement of the conditions of the organization. We distributed some fruits
and snacks among them. The contributions were handed over by Dr. Lakshmi
teacher to Sister Reeta Helen, the superior head of the organization.
After
the sessions, Vote of Thanks was delivered by Ms. Rejeena from First year B.
Ed.
The
entire session was much appreciated and valuable as it prepares students for
knowing the value of serving others and helps them to spread love and care. The
visit was a life-changing experience as it was filled with many emotions and
sentiments along with a bunch of valuable life lessons. The quality time we
spend with them gives us immense happiness.
Thank You 💖
